My students need books for our Mem Fox author study. When studying an author, kids get really excited about reading and exploring the books independently, which is why I've requested multiple copies of many titles.

My Students
My students and their families have sought out and selected our school to provide an enriching educational environment for their children. Our integrated units of study provide multiple entry points for learning to meet the varied learning needs of all students. Through these studies, students learn how to learn.
They truly take on the roles of researchers, engineers, scientists, nutritionists, and mathematicians.
Almost all of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. My students understand that they have a place in the world and are more than capable of making an important contribution. They learn to become flexible, resilient, and creative thinkers who are able to work collaboratively and solve problems.
My Project
I am requesting several books written by Mem Fox like Tough Boris, Time for Bed, and Feathers and Fools for our author study. My students love studying the works of one author to get to know him or her better. We also become better readers as we learn to recognize the style and themes of one author.
Every book I read aloud, my students will want to read and explore independently.
I borrowed a copy of these books from our public library, but they only let you check out one copy of each title. In this project, I've requested a few copies of many titles so my students can enjoy the books on their own or in small groups.
Using these books, my students will be able to make connections, both to their own lives as well as to other books, they will learn to make inferences about words and characters, and they will be able to practice all the reading strategies we have learned so far. My students will also be transported to Australia, as Mem Fox is Australian, and many of her books take place there!
