My Project

My name is Dr. Jamarcus Little, and I proudly serve as the Curriculum Resource Teacher at school. This project is designed to promote the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion through a carefully selected collection of children's books. These titles will reflect a range of cultures, backgrounds, and experiences to help our students see themselves in what they read, as well as gain a deeper understanding of others. By integrating these books into our classrooms, we aim to build confidence, nurture identity, and foster critical social-emotional skills in our young learners.

We are a Title I school located in an underserved community, where many of our students face economic challenges and limited access to enriching resources.

Despite these obstacles, our students are eager to learn and grow, and our teachers are committed to providing them with the best educational experience possible. Unfortunately, funding for high-quality, diverse classroom literature is often scarce. This project will help bridge that gap by putting meaningful, culturally responsive texts directly into the hands of students who need them most.

With your support, we can create learning spaces where students feel seen, valued, and inspired. These books will not only support literacy development but also encourage meaningful conversations about identity, kindness, empathy, and resilience. Your generosity will have a lasting impact on our school community—empowering students to embrace who they are and appreciate the world around them.
