This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are autistic students who have a love for technology. I currently have 40 students in my two special education classes. The students in my classroom are vibrant, excited, and eager to learn. They come from a low income/high poverty school district. Many parents are not able to provide the life experiences that many of us would see as “typical.” It is my honor to educate these students, and I always strive to provide the best educational experiences.
"Energetic" and "excited to learn" is the best way I can describe my students.
The majority of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our school has been categorized as one of the lowest 300 schools in the state.
My Project
My students need workbooks for reading, vocabulary , phonics and more to achieve in school and at home.
Many of our students lost their items after Hurricane Maria and had to be relocated to our school.
These resources will help my non-English speaking students who are on various grade-levels succeed. Many of my students are starting over.
While most of the materials will stay in school, some will be given to the students to be used at home, whether to complete their homework or for an at-home activity.
These workbooks will provide my students the necessities to complete their reading work. The measure of a students imagination and creativity is limitless, but they are bound by the access to resources. These special reading workbooks is what our kids needs in order to feel like things are normal again. Many of our families had to relocate with nothing. Even though the families had to relocate I want to make sure that my students have the basics in school. Many of their parents can't afford anything right now and the students come to school with nothing.
