This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students in my school and district come from low economic status houses. Many students live in a single-parent household with their mother. Many live with their grandparents or a single parent. They face many challenges but they overcome those challenges when they enter our classrooms and school. Many of my children are raising themselves and their siblings. They have had to become adults before ever getting to be a child.
My children come to school to escape the demands of adulthood at home.
I have and want to continue to create a nice, quiet, and encouraging place for them each day at school. They have the best heart and attitude that anyone could ask for and they truly give their best each day. I want the best for all of my children.
My Project
These materials will be used for my children to read while they are home. We are all at home doing distance learning as best as we can right now. Many of my students do not have reading material at home to keep their reading skills improving. I want each one of my students to have reading material at home. I do not want them to worry about trying to find something to read. They have a lot to worry about right now and reading material should not be one of those things.
