My students need 7 sets of leveled readers, 1 set of paperback biographies, a cart, a library check out system, 2 bean bags, and an easel for small groups.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are moving from an old way of teaching from using a basal to guided reading. This will provides students with differentiated instruction that caters to each students individual needs by providing them with leveled text and creating an individualized plan through small group instruction, which promotes growth.
My students are very diverse in skills and abilities.
They are smart with bright futures ahead of them. We are just lacking in resources. They are eager about learning. They attend a Public school, which can lack funding. Each one of my students is special in their own way.
My Project
Resources can be a barrier when trying to teach the fundamental skills needed at various grade levels . My goal, as a teacher, is to enhance each student by providing them with the tools necessary to be successful. With the material requested,I will be able to carry out a new guided reading program. Which will give students leveled text they can use during Guided Reading as well as independent reading. This will motivate students to read more if they have leveled text that they can truly read. The materials will enhance my students reading ability. I am requesting headphones to use with listening center to help students increase fluency. I'm also requesting bean bags that will be used during Independent reading to provide comfortable seating and help them to focus.
Each student has a educational journey to complete.
I want to make learning fun and be able to provide a rich curriculum that caters to the whole child. I want to provide resources that will help the students to learn beyond the classroom. Providing them with these resources will give mu students a variety of books to read to help develop a love of reading.
