Reading vs. COVID-19!

Help me give my students kindles to read in class during free time since we are not able to read physical books! It is much easier to clean and sanitize a kindle/tablet rather than quarantine a book!

My Students

My students are lively and hard working children. They always strive to present their best work and learn the most they can during the school day.

Transitioning to online and virtual learning requires a substantial amount of 8-9 year olds hauling Chromebooks unprotected to and from their half day of school.

We have accustomed them to reading online since we cannot physically use books due to COVID-19 in our rooms. This project would allow my students to read with easier access to clean and not ruin the the book.

Working in a low income school brings some difficulties that we have to overcome. Having the support from others and the great personalities that I have in my classroom really helps overcome those difficulties! Therefore, as a teacher, I have to provide most items myself for the class to help achieve our best!

My Project

Third grade is a very important age where students should be reading fluently and with accuracy. With COVID-19, physical books are not used in our classrooms due to the "sharing" and "trading" ability they provide. I cannot have them take them home or bring them back.

Even at school, we would have to quarantine each book and clean/disinfect it quite often.

With the use of the tablets/kindles, it will be easier to sanitize and give kids an exciting way to READ!

Most do not want to read on their Chromebooks, but want to read in my little library I have in my classroom!
