Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The grade level I teach is 3rd-grade writing, and reading intervention. The students come from an area that is low socio-economic and hit hard by Harvey. I want my students to be successful in reading, but many of them are unable to read the great books that are out there and are embarrassed to read books below grade level so they don't read at all.
With the Galaxy Kids Tablets, I can create a center for students who struggle with reading by purchasing audible books that their peers are reading that can be read to them on these amazing devices.
Doing this will help the students learn about fluent reading. Work on their comprehension skill through listening, and learn sight words by following along with the words as it is being read to them.
My Project
Many of the students I work with struggle with reading. They want to read the amazing books that are newly out there but unfortunately, they are too difficult to read. With the use of the Galaxy Kids Tablet I can use websites such as audible and get these students the books they love to read and they can share them with other students. This opportunity will lead to student discussions about books and get student excited and engaged no matter how they read the book.
The ability to read a book is life-changing.
Even though the students will not be reading the book independently they will gain needed reading abilities from using the Galaxy Kids Tablet that will affect the way they read a book in hand.
