Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

The items that I have strategically chosen for my project are diverse. The choices are designed to inspire independent reading during my personalized learning block. My students love social studies, humor, and they also have a desire to read more books about that famous "Wimpy Kid." Many of the girls in my class have requested books by African-American female authors and we know that interest plays a role in metacognition among young readers. In a nutshell, interest and rigor play a major role in my selections.

I will be using these books to differentiate my small group instructional block.

I will be hetergeneously and homogeneously grouping my students based on thier Amplify comprehension scores as well as Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development. Based upon my data analysis of Amplify comprehension scores leveled books will enhance my young readers academic experiences and promote growth in thier overall comprehension.
