My students need Osmo Pizza Games, National Geographic Reader sets with storage bins, along with a class set of privacy partitions, twistables, and fastener folders.
My students are excited to come to school each day and to learn from one another. They enjoy working in collaborative groups and sharing their knowledge with each other. They enjoy using their critical thinking skills to evaluate new information and integrating the arts to show their learning. They get very excited any time we can use technology in the classroom and they aren't afraid to try something new.
Jane Goodall once said, "You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you.
What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make." With this quote in mind, I want to help my students become aware of the impact they are having on the world around them.
My Project
We live in Southern California, less than 30 minutes away from the beach, however, many of my students don't know much about this amazing natural wonder. I am requesting 5 different National Geographic Reader set with storage bins to help my students learn more about the ocean and how to protect it. Three of the readers are on whales, dolphins, and sharks. After reading all the books, students will use the twistables and fastener folders to create a report on the animal of their choice. I am also asking for readers on a class favorite animal, elephants, and rocks and minerals to accompany our rock unit in science. These two books will help student see how our environment changes over time and how animals such as the elephant depend on the environment and migration to survive. The privacy partitions will be available for students to use to help them concentrate when they work. The Osmo Pizza game will help students sharpen their money skills which is an important life skill. Having good money sense will allow my students to better understand both the financial and environmental benefits of recycling.
I am excited for my students to learn how to become stewards of the ocean.
Through this project they will learn the importance of protecting our natural resources.
