My Students

My students are from different backgrounds but with many commonalities. They come from a diverse community with a strong military presence. All of our student population currently receives free breakfast and lunch, and a growing number are identified as English Language Learners.

Our families have a variety of struggles and it is essential that we provide our student population with a supportive and enthusiastic academic environment.

It is important to me that my classroom is a space in which they can feel safe learning, questioning, and growing as they rise into the ninth grade.

My Project

I love being able to stock my library with a variety of material for our students. This collection of high-interest graphic novels is sure to be devoured by the many comics lovers we have in our school. The students we serve come from many backgrounds and need a wide range of reading levels.

Graphic novels are a wonderful tool for students who don't find a connection to the standard novel format, and can be an excellent way to engage readers who need extra support.

Thank you for helping us to continue to adapt and expand our library.
