Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are curious, active, and eager to learn and share their knowledge. They love reading books, sharing what they know, and motivating each other. I am inspired by their willingness to work together as a team.
Every day, they come in excited to be in school, ready to learn and work hard to improve their knowledge and skills.
My students have a unique variety of abilities, interests, and learning styles. They are scientists, explorers, authors, assistants, editors, tech managers, and mathematicians. I love learning from their background experiences.
My Project
Kindergartners and First Graders often don't hear the individual letter sounds they make when they are reading. These phones will help block outside noises thus allowing my students to hear themselves read so that they can really focus on every sound they say without any distractions. Also, the phones will help boost my shy students' confidence as they whisper read to themselves. These phones are perfect for exploring letter sounds, phoneme blending, phonics practice, oral reading and more.
When learning to read and write, it is important for students to hear all the sounds in words.
Hearing all the sounds my students read will help them become better spellers. These telephones will help them isolate and recognize individual sounds as they read, thus making them more confident spellers. We will use these phones during whole and small group instruction to practice reading and writing skills. These tools will add variety to their reading and writing time--and motivation.
