Reading to Love Math

Help me give my students children's literature that is about math. All of these books will help my students think about math in a different way and hopefully get them excited to learn.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Nivens's classroom raised $224

My Students

I have two classes of math and science students. They come from a variety of backgrounds, family situations, and socio-economic status. They have varying ability from below grade level to on grade level, to above grade level, some are even two to three grade levels above where they need to be. However, they all love to learn and especially love math and science.

My students are a great group of kids who love to learn using hands-on techniques.

They love to learn through playing games and small group instruction. They work hard and are curious about what they are learning.

My Project

These books will help introduce my students to various math concepts in a unique way. Each of the books will help my students learn about different math skills.

By using literature to introduce what can be difficult math concepts, I hope to bridge the gap between English Language Arts and math.

Many students who love reading don't enjoy math as much. I am hoping to inspire students to look at math in a different way. Using these books will help me to explain why the math we learn is important in our every day lives. My goal is to capture student's attention and interest by using these books.
