I teach in a very unique building. Our building hosts three programs. We have special education from kindergarten to high school. We also have a special education preschool program. Last but not least we are a elementary building. We service some of the most at risk students in our area. Our building has kindergarten to fifth grade students.
Our school is not located in a neighborhood like most schools.
All our students are bused in or dropped off by parents. We have one of the highest poverty rate in the area. We are only a few percentage points from 100%. We have at least 1 or more homeless students in each classroom. We serve the most at risk group of students to date.
My Project
It is said that if a child get's into a reading series they become life time readers. I am trying to help my students become a life long reader.
It is important for kids to read inside and outside of school.
The more kids read outside of school the more likely they will build the habit of reading for the rest of their lives. This is super important for 21 century learning. These things will help them grow and students and adults. This can help determine their success as an adult. Please support our love of reading and a lifestyle of reading. Thank you in advance.
