My students need new reading materials to help them during our reading center time! They will use the leveled readers at small group time and use the comfortable chairs at read to self or partner.
I have 16 wonderful first-grade students that are excited to learn in my classroom! My school keeps our class sizes low, under eighteen students, so we can better connect with our students. It also gives me more time and opportunities to better understand how they learn and how to help them grow. Our school districts motto is to challenge, empower, and achieve. I am always looking for ways to improve my teaching so my student's can reach their full potential.
My Project
The materials that I have asked for would help strengthen my first graders reading center time. First graders are like sponges. They are learning to be lifelong readers! Seeing reading "click" for a student is the best thing in the world. Making reading fun is my main goal. Using wonderful books that are sight word based would benefit my struggling readers become more fluent and would help them gain confidence. I also put bins on the list, so the sight word books are easy to access for my first graders. My students also have an independent reading center that they would LOVE to have a cozy spot to read with the floor seats! The reusable write and wipe sheets will be used during guided reading time. I can slip in any sheet and have my students write on them using dry erase markers! This saves many copies and my students love writing with dry erase markers. Thank you for considering donating to our first-grade classroom! You really can make a difference for my first graders.
