Help me give my students resources so that the delivery of online lessons or content in a schoolhouse model encourage students to become active participants.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The buzz is reading through the arts in my classroom. I would like to accelerate student engagement in a virtual setting or in a schoolhouse model. I am confident that students from the primary grades and third graders would keep a love of literacy with at-home learning kits.
I am building an inviting, cutting-edge virtual class and face-to-face setting that will support my students’ needs through an integrated curriculum, with special attention given to art in reading projects!
My pupils come to school with different ability levels and talents. They organize their projects, have easy access for work-in progress, and interact effectively with their peers using manipulatives from early to intermediate level students. They best enjoy the collaboration aspects of teaching and learning new concepts when they are given quick access to the tools and resources necessary to gain immediate feedback.
Each year, I get inspired by my students’ curiosity and their ability to create. My hope is to design an innovative virtual learning environment to encourage flexibility through active participation. When reading, writing, and the arts are integrated, kids learn best!
My Project
The materials requested in this project will encourage primary or third grade students to become active participants whether at home or in school. My third grade students are enrolled in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the fourth largest school district in the United States. Some of my school’s students come from migrant families.
My students will use and benefit from the resources such as hardcover book templates, paint brushes and a variety of paint colors because the materials offer enjoyment and stimulate imagination.
The specific learning outcome during our prolonged lessons is to provide many opportunities for my students to look, make, write, read, illustrate, and reflect on their own creation during read-alouds. The personalized books and the journal writing will help to represent a dynamic part of their lives and cultures.
I believe that if I can get primary or 3rd grade students to create, this will enable them to be imaginative, to express their feelings, and share their thoughts. I hope that the resources in my cart will help to give donors a window into my students’ potential growth in reading and writing with an emphasis in art lessons. In addition to creating personalized books, bridging daily journal writing from bell-to-bell and at home is of the utmost importance. The arts help us become more aware of our mental state and of our environment.
I am hopeful that this project will help my students experience feelings and understanding that is often missed in other core academic classes.
