My Students

I have a unique blend of students being a dual certified teacher. There is quite the widespread of ability levels and needs. I enjoy this especially because it helps keep things fresh for me. I teach language arts and just this year moved from teaching 5th grade ELA for 15 years to 4th grade. I’m loving the excitement of the children! My students enter the day excited to be there, greeting me with many hugs and stories. They bring joy!

My Project

During reading instruction, my paraprofessional and I each meet with multiple reading groups. I currently have one reading table that accommodates an entire reading group, the other reading table only fits 3 students and a teacher. We currently have to squeeze 3 more chairs around the table. The students do not have enough room to write and behaviors are escalating. Having a reading table and chairs would make it seamless for the students to transition. Currently, it takes minutes from instruction to move chairs across the room to get everyone settled. Without this extra time being lost, more instruction could be taking place.
