This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are English language learners, primarily Hispanic and Latino, as well as some students from the Congo. They are across grade levels from kindergarten through 5th grade, and we have been virtual for the entire 2020-2021 school year. Some of our students are newcomers (who arrived to the United States within the past few years), while many were born and raised here.
My Project
Students will all receive the same bilingual book, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, so that we can engage in an end-of-the-year project with activities. We will read the book together and engage in craft activities to keep students motivated and participating. With virtual learning, it has been difficult to read as often and as intensely as we usually would in-person. By creating a project around the same book for all our students, we can promote a sense of normalcy for our students. The project will serve as closure for the school year.
