Reading, STEM and Art, Oh My!

Help me give my students the STEM supplies needed to bring the life cycle into our classroom with the egg incubator for chicks, ladybug habitat and mini aquaponics.

My Students

I teach an amazing group of 2nd graders. My students are an inspiration to me! Due to COVID restrictions school looks a lot different this year and my students have adjusted with smiles, under their masks! They come excited to be at school each day, to be among peers and to learn new things. I had one student chant over and over again, "I don't want to go home, I love learning about math so much!"

My students keep me going among the uncertainties this year has brought!

They have a desire to learn and to meet their needs I have to think outside the box and make my lessons filled with as much hands on and authenticity as I can. My students strive with lessons they can see, touch and apply in their lives.

My Project

The STEM supplies will help bring the life cycle into my classroom. Providing the opportunity for my students to see the life cycle in action will make for a memorable experience. Using the incubator and heating lamp will help hatch chicks and watching ladybugs grow from larva in their habitat will help enrich my students learning and understanding of the life cycle.

My students love to read and having the Scholastic News Magazine subscription will educate my students on grade appropriate content related to science and social studies from the world around them.

Students love to play games and with the word family, CVC and vowel games students can review skills and learn new skills all while being engaged in small groups with their classmates.
