We are a student centered classroom that is excited to take large leaps this school year! A typical day in my classroom revolves around hands-on activities and exploration for students to engage and grow independently!
A large majority of my students are ESL and come from a Title I community (77% of our students are free or reduced-price lunch.)
Our students are very motivated and hard working, which makes coming to work every day an exciting adventure. As a very ethnically diverse school, our students have a variety of cultural and economic backgrounds. Our students have a thirst for learning, and I aim to provide each child with the tools they need to be successful!
My Project
These books will provide choices that my students can make every day during literacy rotations. Having access to non-fiction texts to encourage cross curricular learning as well as award winning classics will allow children to dive into a wealth of knowledge. When students walk into a classroom and see all of the amazing literature choices they possess, the smile and excitement on their faces proudly shows their eagerness for learning!
I am excited to introduce growth mindset lessons into our classroom through interactive read alouds that will promote student resiliency.
These books teach children how to conquer making a mistake, use positive self talk and to challenge themselves daily. This will grant students the positive belief that they can accomplish anything they put their minds to!
