Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many students in my school read below grade level and the COVID-19 "learning loss" is all we keep hearing about. Students are reading at lower levels than usual, and trying to get them engaged and motivated in this new school year has been challenging.
My students are expected to read at home daily, but many families do not have access to grade level text for the children to read.
By contributing to this project, you will be helping give my students a new and fun way to read at home with Scholastic News (and Science Spin) magazines. By having these magazines, students will read grade level content that interests them in a new format that we do not have at school! It will be something for the children to look forward to-- their next edition of the subscription!
Having access to more grade level text such as Scholastic News will help lessen the "learning loss" in reading that these children have experienced and will strengthen their reading skills! Let's build a love of reading with this book club subscription!
