I teach in a low income school in a large city in Ohio. All students are eligible for free lunch and come from a low socioeconomic back ground. My students are in grades 6-8 in a self-contained classroom. My special education students are a unique blend of young people and have a range of disabilities. Our students are at 100% poverty level.
My students are young scholars who work hard every day and try their best.
We need seating in the reading area so that when my students are reading they have a place to sit that is comfortable to relax and read. I ask my students to read daily basis and they need an area to sit and read. My students really like to read and this area would benefit them by giving them more areas to sit and enjoy books.
My Project
My students need beanbag chairs for the reading area. There is a rug that in on the floor but that is not comfortable to sit and read. These beanbag chairs would allow my students the ability to move anywhere in the classroom and have a nice spot to sit and read.
It is important that they are comfortable when they read because they already have to sit at their desks most of the day so this will be a nice change for them to be able to have a comfy beanbag to sit and relax while they read a good book!
