My Project
Class sizes have increased this year and my third grade class is now filled with twenty-eight minds whose owners are ready to make growth! As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. We would love to have a rug for organizing students which will help make our interactive reading more impactful. The space this carpet will give our students will help them focus on learning while still being surrounded by their friends.
Despite the many challenges they face, my students love to participate in interactive reading!
They range in interests, abilities and cultural background. Some are athletes, some are strong readers, some are ready to become mathematical geniuses and they all love to show their creativity. We work hard to build a strong community in our classroom while staying active.
Many of our students have extra energy and need paths to utilize this energy in order to help them focus on academics. We also have several students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Tools to help these young scholars read and interact with literature always help.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
