Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am currently a first grade teacher at Public School 146 in Bronx, New York. PS 146 is a beautiful school that needs a few things to enhance the learning and development of the students. Being that I teach first grade majority if not all instructions takes place on a rug (taking into consideration that chalk boards are no longer used) therefore the students sit in groups on the floor. During this time I teach each and every subject then the students use the rug for independent reading. There is currently no rug in the room because the previous rug is worn and dirty. The students cannot sit on the cold floor because they will get sick. My goal is to make sure that each child learns to the best of his or her potential and sometimes that means putting them into groups on the rug for individual of group instructions. Please I am asking that you think about the students who will be sitting on the cold floor or a worn and dirty rug.
Thank you
