My students need a classroom carpet for the book nook area for a safe and welcoming place for the students to read!
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Blasi's classroom raised $435

My Students
I teach a first grade, general education classroom and I am the mainstreaming teacher for the ABA students. This means that students on the autism spectrum come into my classroom for certain subjects. There is a wide range of academic levels in my classroom. My students love literacy and math centers. They are kind children, who are always willing to lend each other and myself a helping hand. They love GoNoodle brain breaks and our classroom Dojo points system. They are hardworking, eager to learn students.
My Project
My classroom needs a reading area rug. This rug will be placed in my classroom book nook for all students to use. The book nook area is the heart of the classroom. Students come into the book nook for mini-lessons for all subject areas. They come sit in the book nook for read alouds, sharing time, literacy centers and independent reading. A rug is an essential part of the book nook area.
This rug will make for a warm, welcoming place for my students to read and learn.
I want them to feel at home and comfortable when sitting down to read a book or to listen to me teach. This rug will help me achieve that goal.
My students will benefit from this project because this rug will be utilized throughout the day for not only independent reading, but many more learning activities. Having students in close proximity to the teacher, on the carpet during learning time, will increase focus and learning acquisition. The rug will encourage the students to spend more time reading independently in the book nook area. Reading is a huge part of first grade! Independent reading from the leveled library increases reading confidence and reading skills.
As you can see, this rug will have a huge impact on everyday learning.
