Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students have a diverse range of interest, ability, and goals. As a first year teacher, I want to ensure that they are offered items and resources that best support their achievement. I teach students who are from a majority low-income community, where their needs aren't always met. For many of these students, school is a safe space. I am hoping to provide them with more resources to make the classroom more comfortable and fun!

As a class, we see ourselves as a family who supports each other through it all.

The students in my class strive to develop their reading skills as well as work towards their individual goals!

My Project

My students love to read but unfortunately do not have access to a school library! I am working on giving them a classroom library and could use your help! As they take the FSA at the end of the year, reading is incredibly important and it is necessary that they have access to books.

I want to give them a reading area with headphones and a comfy rug they can sit on, as well as many books to enjoy while lounging on the rug!

Most of my students are from a low income community and do not have access to reading books outside of school. I want them to enjoy reading and have materials relevant to them. Your help would be amazing! Thank you!
