Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I work in an inner city Chicago Public School. I currently have 27 students in my room. Many of my students come from Spanish speaking homes. During my reading lesson, I meet with small groups. This way I am able to give more individualized instruction and help. While I meet with one group of 5-6 students the other 21 students work in centers. Our reading program provide some center ideas, but our students need more basic vocabulary practice. I am hoping to get this hands on literacy kit for my room to help my students get even more vocabulary practice. I love this kit because it goes beyond a worksheet or workbook. The students are able to use their hands and will be extremely excited to "play".
