This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Motivating students to read can sometimes be a challenge. Technology is one way to motivate them.
My students are in a Title I school.
Our school is not located in the safest of areas. These kids may not have the best material things in life or have the same benefits as others, but they come to school each day with a smile on their faces and ready to learn.
My Project
These interactive literacy and reading games will be used in small group and whole group instruction. They will help struggling readers as well as challenge fluent readers. The computer phonics games will assist students in blending and recognizing sight words, thus becoming more confident in their reading skills. The computer comprehension games will challenge fluent readers to use reading strategies to understand what they are reading. These games will also be used on the Promethean board. Students love playing on the Promethean board and these games will motivate students to read.
Second grade is a critical year for students.
It's the year they need to be confident in their learning to prepare for future success. Having these materials would play a huge part in motivating them. When students are eager and motivated to learn, the higher the chances for success.
