My Students

I am a first grade teacher in a wonderful school in Wisconsin. My students are very special and I just love going to school every day to see the sparkle in their little 5 to 8-year-old eyes. I truly have the most special job in the world and treasure every day with my students!

Working well with parents, students, coworkers, and other specialists is an important part of my teaching day.

Enjoying reading with my students is my absolute favorite part of being a teacher!

My Project

I work with many of the students in our school who have dyslexia. In fact, I am in a position to teach students with dyslexia during their most critical/most formative year of school. I firmly believe that it is absolutely critical to catch students with dyslexic tendencies as early as possible and to do everything in my power to get them as much phonics and reading support as possible in this critical year. But, many students are missed in first-grade, or they haven't gotten to where they need to be. I want to further my training and take a class to help me reach those students who continue to struggle.

It has been my personal mission to get as much training as possible in the area of dyslexia, so that I can help students with this learning disability to shine!

I will be attending a multi-sensory Orton Gillingham dyslexia training through IMSE, on July 13-17m and on July 18th, I will continue my PD at the National Holocaust Museum. The exhibits at this museum play a large part in our country's history. I want to learn as much as I can so that I can correctly share books, literature and first-hand info with the older students I am working with. I am requesting activity/training costs, along with the allowable hotel, meal, and airfare costs.

This opportunity for training to help kids who come to me in need, with dyslexic struggles, will be a very worthwhile experience that I can use to help multiple students for many years to come.
