This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students at our elementary school love to visit the library and read books about many different topics! Right now, students are very interested in the Greek Gods and the many stories written about them.

I would like to add the graphic novel versions of the popular Rick Riordan book series, Percy Jackson and The Heroes of Olympus, to our collection!

Our fourth and fifth graders have read all the Olympians graphic novels and are ready to move on to other series about that topic. Unfortunately, many of them find the Rick Riordan chapter books to be too long and overwhelming. This is when graphic novels really can come into play for young readers. I am hoping that adding the graphic novels to our collection will generate new readers of these wonderful stories and inspire students to keep reading!
