Mrs. Hay from Montgomery AL is requesting musical instruments through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need cajons to help them learn how to read music better. Being able to read music will help bring up their reading and math skills as well as develop high order thinking skills.

I teach at a Title 1 School in Montgomery, Alabama where 100 percent of my students receive free breakfast and lunch daily. Many of our students also receive backpack food on the weekends. Despite so many hardships and challenges, my students enter the music room excited, eager to learn, and and always striving to be the very best that they can be in everything they do.
My students love being able to sing, dance, and play instruments.
They love anything type of activity that involves rhythm!
The Nino Cajon's will be used everyday by all of my Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade students. Being able to have and use the Nino Cajon's will allow my students to have hands on experiences while learning to read music. Being able to read music will not only help bring up math and reading scores, but it will prepare them for a smooth transition into the middle school band and/or choir as well as help to make our students more well rounded individuals with compassion and empathy. We will also be able to include the Nino Cajon's in our school Christmas Concert, Spring Concert, and Leadership Day Performances.
