This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My fourth-grade classroom in Ohio is comprised of approximately forty-six amazing students, many of whom come from bilingual households and receive free breakfast and lunch.

It is important to me that my students are provided a classroom environment which promotes learning and well-being.

The learning environment that I hope to create for my students is one that inspires them to succeed and supports them every step of the way. My students come to school each day often bringing their home lives with them. I spend a great deal of time throughout the year, creating a strong sense of classroom community. My students not only rely on me to support them in their learning and serve as a positive role model in their lives, but they have come to rely on one another through the positive relationships they have formed. Our school receives Title I funding and the entire school is eligible for free breakfast and lunch. The students come to school eager to learn and are from various living situations. Such situations include single parents, foster homes, homeless shelters, or extended family living. I am dedicated to meeting their needs daily, along with building their self-esteem and confidence.

My Project

These Can Do! Reading Games will help my students practice reading skills while having fun at the same time. The Reading Games for grades 1-2 will be a great review for my students who are developing skills in phonemic awareness and vowel sounds, language skills and phonics, sight-words and word families, vocabulary, and comprehension. The Reading Games for grades 3-4 will boost skills in reading literature and informational text, develop vocabulary, practice figurative language, parts of speech, and prefixes and suffixes

These games are a fun way for my students to prepare for state tests.

Please consider donating to our project. This project will be a a way for my students to work collaboratively while using critical thinking skills. I know they will all love these new resources!
