My Students
Our school is a dual French/English language immersion program. Working in a dual language immersion school brings out the best in our students, although it is hard for them as this is their first exposure to French. It's extra hard especially trying to learn math, science and social studies in French. Our student's are impressive because they are learning to speak, read, do math and write in both languages. Through it all, they work together to make our classroom learning environment positive.
Our positive classroom is impressive because it is an environment where mistakes can be made in a non-threatening place.
My Project
These books will give our students the ability to read on their grade level at home and school. During center time, these books will help build reading and comprehension skills when read at center time. These books will be sent home to further help each student engage in reading and comprehending texts at home.
Through donating to this project, you will help children build lifelong skills that will help them succeed in life.
As Frank Smith stated, "One language sets you in a corridor for life. Two languages open every door along the way." Whether that language is French or English these books will help open the doors to a world of knowledge and ultimately to understanding for the students in our class.
