This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is a Title I school where 97% of our students receive free or reduced rate lunches. Although some students may come from difficult situations, they are all highly motivated, talented, and inspirational young learners.
In my classroom, students learn to love reading by engaging in discussion of literature and through identifying with characters in books.
It is incredibly rewarding to work with these wonderful young people and to help them on their journey to becoming lifelong fans of reading.
My Project
The students need clipboards to be able to take notes from the board when sitting in a circle. We also need an easel to make completing classroom anchor charts together an easier task. Additionally our classroom would like a book display bin to easily access class favorites, instead of having to hunt through multiple leveled book bins.
These materials will allow students to be able to work collaboratively and complete assignments independently rather than requiring teacher assistance.
I am very much looking forward to using the items on a daily basis. They will be a valuable part of our learning environment.
