My class consists of 20 second graders who continue to work hard each day to grow as readers. My hopes are to help target my struggling readers though extra phonics tools to help improve reading fluency. My students enjoy playing games, drilling with flashcards, and working in small group. I selected these special items to help target difficult skills. The students will use these phonics materials daily to help improve their reading and writing. My hope is to see confidence and smiles!
My Project
I am asking for a variety of reading materials to help teach students learn to grow and love reading time! I want students to engage in games and activities and learn through having fun. My plan is to use these materials daily during my Daily 5 rotation. I will be teaching the students how to use the games and how to take care of the materials.
I am trying to get a vowel digraph game called Lift-off!
This game will help students by looking at vowel patterns and deciding what is needed to pronounce words. I am also asking for RTi: Easy Phonics Interventions reproducible book so that I can help my groups with interventions who need it. I am trying to also get a game for center time called Pop for Word Families. This game will help focus on saying word families. Along with that, I am asking for a Snap-it Up! Phonics Game. This game reminds me of UNO but in a phonics version. I am also looking to get a AGO Phonics box set that will help build phonic skills. I am also trying to get week-by-week phonic independent practice packets to which will help focus on phonics skills. Lastly, I am asking for ten readers levels I-M to which are books that are second grade level readers. These books will provide extra support for reading.
