This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"A Teacher Plants A Seed That Never Stops Growing," is one of my favorite quotes. The students in my class face challenges in reading. The students read 2 to 3 grade levels below their grade level. I want to be that teacher that instills reading as recipes that students will digest.
My students are loving students, with disabilities such as learning disabilities, mild intellectual disabilities, and autism.
The students attend an inner city school in Atlanta, Georgia. The school is a title one school, in which the population is 95% African American students. The students are on free and reduced lunch.
My Project
The students would benefit greatly from receiving the Hot Dots reading comprehension system and cards. Students would love different reading comprehension cards and games which will enhance their reading skills. Students will learn comprehension skills and become better readers. The students will learn how to decipher different reading materials. The students will create a Power-Point presentation using the different reading materials, as well as participate in a Reading Comprehension Bowl against other students.
The students in the Interrelated Program face many challenges that students do not face in the regular education programs.
The reading materials will give them the opportunity to increase their reading skills and become successful readers. The students in the Interrelated Program, are integrated into regular programs, and must perform on grade level. These students need to be prepared to become better readers. The reading materials will allow my students to become proficient readers in society.
