My students need Sight-Word Magnets, Stack & Build Phonics Flip Books, and Phonemic Awareness Instant Learning Centers that will help them become confident and successful with pre-reading skills!

Every day I stand in the doorway and greet my students, all of them say good morning, many faces are accompanied by smiles and some even include hugs! This is one of the best times of our day. My students come to school daily eager and ready to learn. My students take pride in their work and understand the importance of school. Many come over to me daily and tell how many sight words they know or want to read to me. My student's eagerness for knowledge makes teaching so rewarding and fulfilling!
I work at a Title I school, in one of the most impoverished areas of Washington, DC.
My school has a food pantry once a week for families, students get free backpacks and school supplies. Despite financial hardships and setbacks my students understand the importance of school and come to school every day ready and eager to learn.
At the beginning of Kindergarten, many students are not reading yet. At the end of the year, students are reading, retelling stories and exploring books on their own. Before students learn to read they need strong background knowledge of phonics and phonemic awareness. My students will learn reading skills in small groups. They use the phonics stack and build books to practice spelling and sounding out words. We will use the sight word magnets for morning meeting and guided reading. My students will use these resources to become better readers and writers.
In order for students to be successful with pre-reading skills they need to practice daily, these learning materials are just what my students need to jumpstart a love of reading!
My students will not only be engaged with the phonics learning centrers they will also be excited to learn and grow. Students will be able to access these materials for independent small group learning. My goal is to use these resources to support students while learning and also build a love of reading!
