Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My third-grade classroom is full of students from diverse backgrounds that are eager to learn. They have had a difficult year and a half with distance and hybrid learning, only to come back in person this year with excitement and a passion for learning. I believe all students can learn and achieve academic excellence, and my goal is to provide every student with the tools they need to be successful. More than half of my students come from low-income households, so I strive to have all resources they need to be successful available in my classroom.
My Project
The materials funded by this project will be used in our classroom to help students improve their reading skills. With distance and hybrid learning throughout the pandemic, my third-grade students have large gaps in their reading abilities.
These materials will give students the resources they need to improve their reading skills and get them fluently reading at grade level.
The program "Reading Kingdom" will help students build their foundational skills in reading to become more fluent readers. The "Magic Treehouse" books will be used to engage my stronger readers and improve their reading fluency at a higher level than the books we currently have in class.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
