This project is fully funded
Hello! I am a special education teacher at a public NYC elementary school in Queens, NY. I am currently teaching resource room to students in grades one through five. My students are wonderful, bright, and motivated students who require a little extra help in the areas of reading, writing, and math becausue of a learning disability or language impairment.
My students posess a wide range of learning styles, which are not always addressed in their classroom. When I take them to the resource room, I am able to differentiate instruction and cater to their learning styles by providing more hands-on, engaging, kinesthetic learning activities that are not always focused on because of the pressure teachers face in preparing students for high stakes standardized tests.
To supplement the reading and writing programs that my students use in the general education classroom, I am providing a more hands on, engaging reading and writing curriculum. The basic skills reading puzzles that I am requesting support multisensory instruction by reinforcing the visual, auditory, and tactile modalities of learning.
My students are the most inspiring, energetic, and talented group of children. I want to give them every possible opportunity to suceed, which is why I am submitting this proposal. I appreicate your time, and hope that you can help me boost literacy skills in my classroom by helping me purchase these puzzles!
