This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our elementary students are avid readers. Our school is located in the Logan Square area. Our students from Kinder through 8th grade love to come into the school library and enjoy the books that surround them. If you visit the library you will see kids enjoying a book by themselves and/or with others.
Our school is forming a community of readers through our library program.
It's their passion for reading that motivates me each day to put books into their hands. I need your help in now creating that physical environment they need to enjoy their books. Due to a lack of funds, our library lacks the furniture needed to provide a comfortable place for them to sit and enjoy reading their book. We would like for you to help our library provide that cozy place for our students.
My Project
The sofa that I have selected will provide a seating option for my students in the library. It will create a cozy and enjoyable place for my students to sit and read their library book. I want my students to love reading, and the library is that perfect place where they can get lost in a book.
I can picture my students sharing a space on the sofa as they share their books with each other, or just curl up with a good book next to a friend.
An environment where they want to step into, kindergartners to 8th graders, seated with a book in their hand, engaging with text, being successful at reading because it is a book they have chosen to read.
