Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am preparing to receive a new group of lively kindergarten students. As the famous saying goes: "life is like a box of chocolate..."So, how can I introduce my new class of students? They are a great group of kids filled with wonderful gifts and talents that I will have the privilege and responsibility of providing positive and challenging experiences to have them believe and desire to activate them.
My students come from a community of wonderful families with a diverse background.
Some have very involved parents and grandparents. Others are still learning the English language, with parents that might never know it enough to help in their learning, and they will need all the support possible within the classroom setting. We became a title one school as great part of our students enrolled on the free or reduced lunch program.
My Project
My goal is to use books like Listening With My Heart: A Story of Kindness and Self-Compassion to inspire my young students to believe in themselves, respecting others, and appreciating their differences as wonderful tools to make our classroom a fun and safe environment to learn and take chances . This collection of books that I chose are so inspirational and will have a strong and positive impact in my kindergartners, empowering them to develop strong self-esteem, positive interactions with their new peers, and the desire to try their best to make positive contributions to our learning groups.
The book All Are Welcome will encourage the kids to learn from each other as they celebrate who they are and where they come from, acknowledging that our differences enrich our world.
