My students need picture and chapter books Such as The Mighty Miss Malone, and The Lemonade War that focus on financial literacy to learn how to be financially responsible.
I teach students with disabilities. They are highly motivated to do well and want to be successful like their peers. Our school is 100% military and students have to move a lot and have a lot of need for emotional support. My students need to be in a inviting and differentiated learning environment.
Having a dynamic learning environment allows students to become engaged and excited about their learning.
They feel involved and excited to come to school. This takes away from their focus from their academic and emotional struggles.
My Project
In today's world where money is often seen as swiping a card than cash, we need to teach children how to use and work with money. Teaching kids about saving and using money will affect their lives as functioning adults. It’s important that kids understand the concept of a dollar in our world and what it means to both save and spend.
These books with relatable characters will help the students learn the importance of making good decisions with money.
From the book, Bunny Money for my younger students, to The Mighty Miss Malone for my older students, they will earn that money decisions are an important part of life. Even Amelia Bedelia can influence us to use our money wisely! The students will learn through books that financial literacy will lead them to a life of success and opportunity.
