Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class consists of a combination of 32 students who are so excited to be back at school in person. They all come from a low-income community and their school receives free school lunch. They all have different: backgrounds, learning styles, and interests.

My Project

These books will give my students the opportunity to grow their love of reading. My students selected these books as they found the summaries interesting as we searched for new items to be added to our classroom library. The excitement as we browsed was electric.

The students selected all of the books for this list.

We check out books from our class library weekly. They are used both at school and home to give the students as many opportunities as possible to explore new worlds.

We will also use these books as mentor texts to support our work as writers. Reading and writing go hand in hand and we will use the texts to help us write our own stories.
