I teach in a Title I school. My students are awesome, hard-working kids; however, they struggle in the classroom with reading and math. I teach intervention math and reading classes for students in grades K-6th.
As a Title I school, we all work hard to close the achievement gap for our low-income students.
We never want a lack of technology, materials, or learning aids to hinder the high levels of learning that we all strive for and know our students are capable of.
My students struggle for a variety of reasons, but I know with hard work and determination from them and myself, we can do amazing things!
My Project
The materials that I am requesting will be used for seating during reading instruction. The rainbow carpet will give students a clear, individual seat for instruction. Having a designated space for seating will help younger students stay in their "bubble" and respect another student's "bubble." I think the students would love to come to school each day and sit/work on the beautiful rainbow.
I am also requesting a reading and writing cart to help with small group instruction.
This cart would allow more flexibility with materials and teaching space in our classroom. It is often necessary to group students and be ready to go, without trying to gather all of the necessary items. It would be such a great addition to our classroom!
