Reading Novels Brings Words to Life!

Help me give my students a love a reading and history. Because of Winn-Dixie is a book most of my students relate to being from low income nontraditional homes. American Revolution brings history to life.

My Project

I like to take a break from our traditional reading and social studies programs to read these 2 novels with my students.

Because of Winn-Dixie is a great book to teach about life and friendship as well as literacy skills.

It is relatable to my students who come from nontraditional families and low-income homes. Many of them relate to moving a lot, not having one or both their parents, and making new friends. They enjoy reading this story and analyzing the characters.

I Survived the American Revolution brings an important time period to life for my students and make it relatable which is easier for them to understand the important events.
