This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My project is to create a space conducive to being inspired to read! Every student who visits the Reading Room is performing in the lowest 20% of their grade level. They lack self-confidence in reading, and many of them have a negative connotation to reading because they struggle with it. Creating a dream reading space for them to feel inspired to practice reading in an inviting environment will allow them to thrive. I am asking for 6 cozy bean bag chairs to allow students to sit in while they read. These chairs will also be used when I have my students partner read with one another. Right now, they sit on the floor, which is uncomfortable. These chairs will allow them to sit up comfortably, as well as face one another, so they can be good listeners to their partner.
