Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in an inner-city, public school located in the heart of South Central Los Angeles. The school is in a rough neighborhood. Our school is pretty big. It has over one thousand students. The school is Title I-funded which means that the majority of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

I teach a wonderful group of second graders.

They come to school eager and ready to learn, regardless of the struggles that they are surrounded by. They are energetic, loving, and enjoy learning new things.

My Project

I am requesting two arm chairs, a table where they can put their books, a rug, and pillows to create a reading nook. I want to make a comfortable place where they can curl up and read a book. Having a reading nook where my students can read and enjoy a book would be a great addition to our classroom. These past months have been hard on the students, I want to provide them with a place that can be a place where they can get lost in a book.

"You can find magic wherever you look, Sit back and relax, all you need is a book" Dr Seuss.

Please help me create a great reading nook for my students. Thank you so much for your kindness, time, and donations to public education!

Happy Holidays!!!!
