My students are third grade Renaissance children. They are exceptionally gifted (testing 'gifted' in three areas). They are quirky, fun, sometimes anxious, over-achievers at times, but most of all beautiful, smart, and inquisitive, small humans!
We would love to get some class sets of specific books that we read as a group then have Socratic Seminars to discuss the books.
We have several students who are online at this time that Zoom into our classroom to participate. It would be lovely to have enough books for the in person students and also access to online versions for the ones at home.
My Project
Right now, I have to read the book to the students (they can't follow along unless they have a book). Sometimes, I find an online version but it is rare.
Fun, engaging books that allow for great discussions are what my kids need and want!
We would love to start building a classroom library so the kids can decide when we read specific text (rather than me deciding based on what and if I find books.)
These specific book titles are relatable to my third grade gifted students. They love the mystery in Chasing Vermeer and the connections in Phantom Tollbooth. And, of course, Holes is just a third grade gifted favorite!
