it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is in a high-risk Title I school in an urban setting. We have 40% of our students living in temporary housing. I teach reading with very limited resources. Despite the challenges, I can't tell you how excited our students get when they have a chance to read online. We have an incredible partnership with myON online reading resource. This is an opportunity that students have to access online that they otherwise don't have.
Our school school was the first Bucket Filling school in our city that focuses on Social-Emotional Learning to create mindful citizens.
My Project
Our scholars will use these requested Fire tablets with headphones to get online to read, annotate, listen to and write about books and topics they are interested in and studying. This will make such a big difference in my 3rd grade classrooms because we have limited classroom libraries and resources. They will be used as a reading center or when teaching guided reading. Using the myON online resource gives me the ability to track my scholars' progress, Lexile levels and the volume of reading across the year.
My scholars can also assess understanding of the text and I can create my instruction around that.
