Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a community faced with high poverty and socioeconomic difficulties, my students are faced with a variety of challenges each day both in and out of the classroom. Despite the challenges, my students are curious and filled with imagination, open hearts, and minds. Our school is Title I, which supports free breakfast and lunch provided to students at the school. I must make their school experience meaningful.
I aim to provide my students with creative and positive learning experiences that will foster their curiosity.
It is my job as an educator to allow their curiosity to expand and their skills to develop and grow while keeping them inspired to learn.
My Project
These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy. We read fifteen minutes every day and I read a book my class votes on. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading.
