I have twenty students who are just starting to read, and our classroom library lacks exciting new books for them. We need some exciting age-appropriate books.
My Project
After months of letter recognition and learning our letter sounds, my students are starting to read. I am a first-year Kindergarten teacher, and the classroom library I inherited is a collection of old hand-me-down books. I'd like to offer my young readers books that they are truly interested in and can't wait to explore. Every student in my class has a book box that they can add books to to read and enjoy. They add leveled books and books that may be too hard but really interest them. My goal is to have some of their favorite authors available so they can be excited to practice their reading and be motivated to fill their book boxes! I have requested books like Curious George and the Elephant and Piggie series because my students adore them. I have also requested specific Kindergarten book packages because they are not only age-appropriate but cover science lessons that I do not have curriculum for. Reading is the foundation of school and I take that so seriously in my classroom. Teaching a child to read and being able to offer them new age-appropriate books means the world to me. These books will be used year after year in my classroom!
